One of my family's perennial haunts. We stumbled upon it while looking for a meal the night before a vacation, and now it is one of our favourite restaurants. Our usual order consists of 2 tofu satays with roti, one tofu mee goreng, and one hakka chow mein, but we also love Thai curry. Theirs (red and green) are both excellent. The only troubling bit is the music in the background. When it isn't reimagined version of pop songs (a bit repetitive), it's CHFI, the local adult contemporary radio station (complete with advertisements; a joy at Christmas). To sum up: Grossly undervisited, deserves more people through the door and cash through the register. Read more

Right on Dundas and Elizabeth, this little gem is sort of hidden downstairs. My Chinese friends refer to it as 'the basement' rather than its name. The bigger the group, the cheaper the meal. Dim Sum is good and very inexpensive ($2.20 - $3.70 per item). If you are going for lunch during the week, get there EARLY as it fills up very quickly. Once you have had lunch there, you will understand why. The Dim Sum is served from carts, so there are times when some of it may not be as hot as it should be, but I have never found that to be a problem since the food is very good. The decor is very basic with plastic table clothes, but the restaurant is quite clean, so that is not a problem. I go there regularly and recommend it. Read more

It was pretty decent. We got the beef wrapped in pancake, smoked pork with pancake and shrimp dumplings. It's a lot of carbs, so you get full pretty quickly. If I had to do it again, I would get one pancake dish and two types of dumplings instead. Didn't care much for the fact that they only take cash. Read more

Great location also - close to Kensington and Bathurst/College area. I usually get imitation duck - a layered (a little oily) tofu appetizer. I love the mushroom dishes. Re: the service and atmosphere: I've had both great and crabby servers here, but the lady that handles the bills (I think it's the owner) has always been super nice to us. She catered from Kimling for her son's first birthday party and I was instantly addicted to Kimling's food when I had it at the party. I went last friday with a group of 8 to satisfy my cravings. My friend told me to look for Suzie who is the owner. She is such a friendly lady and made us feel welcomed. She also suggested all the dishes we ordered. They were all delicious. My kids made me order the appetizer called Pepper Chicken thrice because they really enjoyed it! I even ordered the Pepper Chicken, Hakka Noodles and Hot Garlic Chicken to go because they were so good.
